A nationwide class action lawsuit has been filed against a major hotel chain alleging that mandatory resort fees were deceptively excluded from advertised room rates. The complaint covers bookings made across 47 states over a three-year period.

Plaintiffs argue that the practice violates state consumer protection statutes and the FTC Act by presenting misleadingly low prices that do not reflect the true cost of a stay. The fees in question range from $25 to $55 per night.

The hotel industry has long defended resort fees as transparent add-ons for amenities, but the lawsuit points to internal documents suggesting the fees were designed primarily to boost revenue while maintaining competitive headline rates.
